The Mavericks fan who was removed from a game this week following a heated exchange with Mark Cuban told TMZ Sports he believes his rights were violated and is now weighing legal action. The incident occurred on Monday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas when Chris Taylor attempted to start an anti-Nico Harrison chant during the Mavericks’ matchup against the Kings.
Taylor, who was frustrated over the Dallas GM’s decision to trade Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this month, began rallying fans around him. In response, Cuban stood up from his courtside seat and asked him to stop.
According to Taylor, the two exchanged words before security intervened and escorted him out of the arena.
The Mavericks later stated that Taylor was removed for being “disruptive and uncooperative,” citing a violation of the NBA Fan Code of Conduct. However, Taylor insisted Cuban was the one at fault.
Taylor told TMZ Sports he felt “bullied, targeted, and threatened” by security during the incident and is now considering legal action.
“The first thing that the security said is, ‘Do you want to walk out, or get dragged out?’” Taylor recounted.
“I’m going to think about it some more, but [legal action] is not off the table. It is definitely not off the table for legal action at this point.”
Taylor also accused the Mavericks of trying to suppress fans’ voices.
“Cuban’s basically just lying and talkin’ s*** on fans again,” he said. “It’s crazy.”
Despite the altercation, Taylor, a season ticket holder, confirmed that he still plans to attend Mavericks games later this month.
