2025 Packers Mock Draft Round Up: Green Bay projected to go defense…

While the draft season is still a while off for Green Bay, this period is ideal for getting acquainted with potential Packers picks as college football’s conference schedule heats up.

A survey of recent mock drafts points to several names that could be on the Packers’ radar for the April draft, ideally selecting at 32nd overall when the event lands in Green Bay.

This year, the draft is expected to lack elite top-end talent, with many prospects showing weaknesses in their scouting profiles. A significant factor is the impact of college teams featuring fifth- and sixth-year players and transfers, resulting in a player pool not entirely suited for the NFL.

    Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan
    Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss
    Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky

In eight recent mock drafts, half predict Green Bay will target a defensive tackle for their 4-3 scheme. Writers often highlight this position due to the Packers’ struggles with consistent quarterback pressure, despite a strong showing last week against the Texans. Among Green Bay’s interior linemen, Kenny Clark ranks 22nd in pressures (13), with Devonte Wyatt and Karl Brooks (6) tied at 66th. T.J. Slaton, Clark’s co-starter, is in his contract’s final year and has played only 40% of snaps in 2024, though he’s started all seven games.

Analysts point to Michigan’s Kenneth Grant and Kentucky’s Deone Walker, whose combined weight is a formidable 683 pounds, as potential fits for a nose tackle role. This position aligns well with Clark’s strengths and is now the Packers’ main approach in their defensive lineup. Meanwhile, Ole Miss’s Walter Nolen — a top recruit in 2021 now playing his best college football — could be an intriguing option due to his penetrating ability and transfer from Texas A&M.

    Shavon Revel, CB, ECU
    Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State

Cornerback is another likely first-round target for Green Bay. The team has been rotating Eric Stokes, Keisean Nixon, and Carrington Valentine opposite Jaire Alexander, but Stokes’ free agency in 2025 and Nixon’s uncertain contract could make this a pressing need. Both potential picks have recent concerns: Shavon Revel tore his ACL, casting doubt on his 2025 season start, while Denzel Burke had a challenging game against Oregon, allowing eight targets to be caught for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

    Cameron Williams, OT, Texas

Texas tackle Cameron Williams’ stock took a hit in a recent matchup against Georgia, where Texas quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning were sacked seven times, mainly due to edge protection issues. Despite Georgia’s impressive record, Williams’ performance in this game raises questions about his first-round viability.

    Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia

On the other side of that matchup, Georgia’s Jalon Walker delivered an impressive three-sack performance. Walker, an athletic off-ball linebacker, is projected as the draft’s top linebacker.

However, the Packers fanbase might be wary of adding another Walker at linebacker, especially considering Quay Walker’s limited impact in his third year and the mixed results from other Georgia alumni like Stokes and Wyatt.
