“I Watched Him!” – Scott Allan Hypes Celtic’s Imminent Deal for Jaw-Dropping ‘Adaptable’ Star That Could Change Everything

As Celtic prepare to reignite their dominance in the Scottish Premiership, a major transfer twist is sparking huge excitement among fans and pundits alike. Following a disheartening end to the 2024/25 season—marked by a Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen—Brendan Rodgers isn’t wasting a second.

Now, the Hoops are reportedly on the brink of finalizing a thrilling move for Swedish sensation Benjamin Nygren, and former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan is buzzing.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Allan revealed his excitement after watching Nygren in action. “I would like to think so (Celtic will have this deal wrapped up),” Allan said. “You know that Celtic, over the years, have had that Swedish connection. A lot of players have come from there and done really well at the club. I watched a bit of his footage earlier, and he looked very adaptable in the forward positions. I think when Celtic really want someone, they usually get it done.”

This isn’t just another name in the rumor mill. With Celtic already welcoming back Kieran Tierney to shore up the left flank, the potential addition of Nygren—capable of playing on either wing, in central midfield, or as an attacking midfielder—is the clearest sign yet that Rodgers is crafting a new tactical blueprint for the 2025/26 campaign.

And with star winger Jota sidelined long-term through injury, reinforcements are critical. Nygren, currently plying his trade at FC Nordsjælland, offers something Celtic desperately need: flexibility, creativity, and end product. His numbers speak volumes—15 games on the right wing yielded 8 goals and 3 assists, while stints on the left, in central midfield, and attacking midfield produced even more glimpses of brilliance. He scored 4 goals in 8 games from the left and notched 2 more from central midfield.

This multi-positional capability gives Rodgers the luxury to mix things up depending on form, fitness, and opposition. With Daizen Maeda’s pace, Nicolas Kuhn’s energy, James Forrest’s legacy, and the unpredictable Yang, the addition of Nygren doesn’t just deepen the squad—it turns Celtic into a tactical Rubik’s Cube.

So where might the Swede fit in? If Kuhn bursts out of the gates in top form, the right flank could be his to own, pushing Nygren to the left. Alternatively, Rodgers might deploy Maeda centrally, allowing Nygren space to roam and influence the game from wider or deeper zones. Either way, the 23-year-old isn’t arriving to warm the bench. He’s coming to compete.

Behind the scenes, Celtic’s historic success with Swedish imports may be a driving factor in sealing this deal. The club has a proven track record of transforming Nordic talents into Parkhead icons, and Nygren could be the latest chapter in that saga.

The 2025 summer transfer window only officially opened on June 16, but Celtic are already moving with sharp precision. With one signing locked in and another seemingly imminent, Brendan Rodgers is assembling a squad not just for domestic dominance—but for European ambition.

And if Scott Allan’s instincts are right, Celtic fans could soon witness the emergence of a new star draped in green and white. The only question now is: will Nygren light up Celtic Park the way so many before him have?
