20M Star Breaks Silence: Finn Azaz Admits He Wants Premier League Move Amid Leeds United Interest

“My Ambition Is To Play At The Highest Level”: Finn Azaz Puts Leeds United on Alert

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his midfield, particularly in the attacking department. Despite repeated calls since last year, the club has yet to land a genuine playmaker, and with the Championship campaign looming, the pressure is mounting to deliver reinforcements that can spark creativity and control.

Last season, Leeds were forced to rely heavily on Brenden Aaronson, who had been pushed into a starting role after the club failed to seal a deal for Gustavo Hamer. While Aaronson started brightly, his performances fizzled out by the winter. Though he posted respectable numbers—nine goals and two assists—supporters were unconvinced by his overall influence.

Aaronson later came clean about his drop in form. “Fatigue played a big role,” he confessed, a rare admission that underlined just how demanding and unbalanced Leeds’ midfield setup had become.

Finn Azaz Speaks Out—And Leeds Should Be Listening

With questions swirling around midfield stability, several names have emerged as potential solutions. Among them is Finn Azaz, currently on the books at Middlesbrough. Recent reports from Ireland linked Azaz to Leeds, though no formal move has yet materialized. Now, the player himself has spoken candidly about his future—and his words might be music to Farke’s ears.

“I’ve got a contract with Boro of course, my focus is on pre-season at the moment,” Azaz told the media. “I’m really happy at my club. I’ve had a great year. I’ve got a lot of respect for everyone at the club and it’s been amazing for me.”

Despite the praise for Middlesbrough, the midfielder didn’t shy away from expressing his ambitions. “I had a great season personally so obviously I want to keep developing and my ambition is to play at the highest level. Whether that be the Premier League or going abroad, I want to play at the highest level,” Azaz declared.

He continued, “I’m fully aware that there’s a lot of Premier League players in the Irish team and I’m looking at the World Cup qualifiers and the World Cup next summer.”

Azaz’s comments come at a time when Leeds United are actively searching for a creative midfielder capable of dictating play and providing key contributions in the final third.

The Numbers Don’t Lie—Azaz’s Rise Makes Him a Tempting Prospect

At just 23, Azaz’s profile is appealing. A breakout year at Middlesbrough saw him contribute significantly, earning plaudits for his vision, technique, and attacking intelligence. Valued at around £20 million, he represents both a short-term fix and long-term asset.

Yet, some inside the Leeds camp may be cautious. Despite the flashes of brilliance, critics argue that Azaz’s preference for high-risk passing over ball retention could make him a volatile presence in possession-heavy systems.

Still, compared to other targets like Emi Buendia—who comes with Premier League experience but also a much steeper price tag—Azaz might strike the right balance of potential, cost, and hunger.

Why Azaz Could Be the Spark Leeds Are Missing

While the debate continues about whether Azaz is worth the £20 million investment, one thing is clear: he wants Premier League football. His name has already been whispered around Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, but Leeds can offer something unique—a central role in a squad hungry for top-flight redemption.

With Aaronson’s position uncertain, and Hamer seemingly out of reach once again, the door is wide open for someone like Azaz to step in and make the position his own. His attitude, ambition, and recent form all point toward a player ready to seize the spotlight.

Premier League Dreams and World Cup Goals—Azaz is Ready to Level Up

What truly sets Azaz apart is his mindset. It’s not just about club football for the Republic of Ireland international—it’s also about carving out a path to international stardom. With the World Cup qualifiers on the horizon and dreams of a global stage, Azaz is laser-focused on making the leap.

“I’m fully aware that there’s a lot of Premier League players in the Irish team,” he said. Those words suggest a man determined to earn his place, not just in a club’s starting XI but in his national team’s lineup for the world’s biggest tournament.

For Leeds United, that mentality could be the missing ingredient. With a gaping hole in the No.10 role and an aggressive style of play that demands sharp thinking and quicker feet, Azaz seems tailor-made for the challenge.
