Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the Premier League, have emerged as the latest club linked with Chelsea’s Armando Broja. According to recent reports, discussions are ongoing between the two teams regarding a potential transfer.
This move is expected to be a loan deal, at least initially. Chelsea is seeking around ยฃ30 million for the 22-year-old striker, a valuation that might seem high given his record of 8 goals in 57 Premier League appearances.
His development has been hampered by an ACL injury sustained 18 months ago, which has had a significant impact on his performance. For context, Ipswich recently signed Liam Delap from Manchester City for ยฃ15 million, highlighting the disparity in valuation for players in similar circumstances.
Broja has also attracted interest from several other clubs this summer, including Everton, Wolves, AC Milan, and VfB Stuttgart. This interest could potentially increase his transfer value, though negotiations might stretch until the transfer deadline, which is not typically ideal for securing the best deal.
Currently, Broja is training away from Chelseaโs first team with other players deemed surplus to requirements. He has four years remaining on his contract with the club.
While Ipswich Town is keen on Broja, he might be hesitant to make the move given the variety of options available to him both within and outside the Premier League. As the deadline approaches, the situation remains fluid, with Chelsea preferring to sell Broja outright rather than loan him out.
