Kiwior Omission Sparks Rumors: Arsenal’s Defensive Rotation Behind Wolves Absence?

When Jakub Kiwior was omitted from Arsenal’s squad for the match against Wolves on Saturday, concerns immediately arose about a potential injury.

However, Kaya Kaynak of Football.London promptly clarified that Kiwior is not injured; he was simply not selected for the game. This only fueled speculation, with fans beginning to wonder if a transfer might be on the horizon.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Kiwior could indeed leave Arsenal this summer, with a strong possibility of such an outcome. Nevertheless, Romano also noted that there are no concrete discussions with any specific club at the moment.

While Kiwior reportedly has a preference for returning to Italy, no club is currently in advanced negotiations for his signature.

There might be an element of keeping the Polish international fit in case of a potential move, but the more straightforward explanation is that Arsenal simply has an abundance of players in his position.

Against Wolves, Oleksandr Zinchenko started, with Jurrien Timber coming off the bench to replace him, leaving no room for summer signing Riccardo Calafiori.

Kiwior is also capable of playing at center-back, but so are Timber and Calafiori, both of whom featured in that role during pre-season.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu set to return from injury, adding another option at left-back and center-back alongside Kieran Tierney, it’s understandable that Kiwior is struggling to secure a spot.

For now, Kiwior remains an Arsenal player until a club comes forward with a serious offer. He’s under contract with the Gunners until 2028.
