Ipswich Eye £10m Burnley Star in Summer Swoop

Burnley defender Dara O’Shea is attracting interest from Ipswich Town, who are reportedly considering a £10 million transfer bid this summer, according to Alan Nixon.

Burnley, recently relegated from the Premier League, are aiming for a swift return to the top flight, and under the guidance of new manager Scott Parker, they have made a strong start in the Championship.

With two wins in their first two matches and nine goals scored, they sit atop the table, though it’s early days for the season.

O’Shea, 25, joined Burnley from West Brom last summer and featured in 33 Premier League games last season, contributing three goals and four assists from defense.

Despite Burnley’s relegation, O’Shea’s performances have caught the attention of other clubs, including Ipswich Town and Brentford, who are monitoring the Irish defender’s situation.

Nixon reports that Ipswich Town, led by manager Kieran McKenna, are interested in securing O’Shea’s services for a deal that could be worth around £10 million.

However, O’Shea might be cautious about his next move, knowing that Ipswich could pursue other defensive targets as the transfer window deadline approaches. If O’Shea remains with Burnley, his experience would be valuable for Parker’s team in their promotion push.

However, should the club receive a substantial offer, they may consider selling him, especially given his 70 appearances in the Championship throughout his career.

If O’Shea departs, Burnley would likely seek a replacement, with John Egan, formerly of Sheffield United and currently training with the squad as a free agent, being a potential option.

As Burnley enjoys a strong start to the season, Parker, with his track record of guiding teams out of the Championship, understands the long journey ahead.

The focus for now remains on the upcoming match against Sunderland, an early top-of-the-table clash, but the transfer window activity could play a significant role in shaping Burnley’s fortunes this season.
