Arsenal is reportedly close to finalizing the signing of a promising LaLiga goalkeeper, contingent on the potential departure of Aaron Ramsdale.
Manager Mikel Arteta aims to maintain two high-quality goalkeepers and has already secured David Raya from Brentford on a permanent basis this summer.
Ramsdale, who has been relegated to second-choice since Raya’s arrival, is considering a move away from Arsenal to secure more regular playing time, with Wolves expressing strong interest.
According to David Ornstein, Wolves have proposed a loan deal for Ramsdale, including an option to purchase. The Midlands club has agreed to cover most of Ramsdaleโs wages during his loan period and is eager to finalize the agreement soon.
However, complications may arise due to the financial aspects of the deal, as Arsenal values Ramsdale at approximately ยฃ50 million.
Discussions between Arsenal and Wolves are ongoing. Arsenal has identified Joan Garcia, a goalkeeper from Espanyol, as Ramsdaleโs potential replacement.
Graeme Bailey reports that Arsenal has a provisional agreement to sign Garcia, but the transfer will only proceed once Ramsdaleโs situation is resolved.
Bournemouth also has shown interest in Garcia but, with Arsenal open to a loan for Ramsdale, the Gunners appear to be in a stronger position.
Bournemouth is also considering a loan move for Giorgi Mamardashvili, provided Liverpool acquires him from Valencia this summer. Garcia, 23, is regarded as a talented prospect and featured in Espanyolโs recent 1-0 defeat to Valladolid.
Bailey also mentions that Arsenal might sign two new goalkeepers if Ramsdale departs, with former player Wojciech Szczesny being another target. Szczesny, now available on a free transfer after leaving Juventus, could bring valuable experience to Arsenal’s squad.
As Ramsdale’s future nears resolution, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will indeed secure both Garcia and Szczesny.
