Packers’ Last-Minute Shakeup: 3 Key Players on the Trading Block Ahead of Roster Cuts

The Green Bay Packers boast one of the NFL’s most promising young rosters, making them a prime target for teams on roster cutdown day.

As such, it’s anticipated that general manager Brian Gutekunst will be inundated with trade inquiries in the coming weeks.

However, determining which Packers players are most likely to be traded involves considering positions where depth could be leveraged for value rather than letting players go for nothing.

One position where the Packers have more talent than they can retain on their 53-man roster is running back. Although it’s feasible for Green Bay to keep four running backs, there are questions about where the carries will come from for Emanuel Wilson.

The Packers invested significantly in the running back position by signing Josh Jacobs to a lucrative deal in free agency and then re-signing AJ Dillon, who has performed well this offseason.

Additionally, they drafted USC standout MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, further adding to their depth at the position.

Emanuel Wilson had a notable performance in the Packers’ recent game against the Denver Broncos, showcasing his abilities as both a runner and receiver against a top defense.

His strong showing, along with his previous contributions last season as an undrafted free agent, highlights his potential value. Given his performance, there are likely teams in need of running back help who might be interested in acquiring Wilson for a late-round pick.

Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, who are currently seeking additional depth at running back, could find Wilson to be a valuable addition.
