Premier League legend and Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has given Ipswich Town the edge among the newly-promoted teams in their fight for Premier League survival.
The Blues have faced tough competition from Liverpool and Manchester City but managed to earn their first point of the season in a thrilling match against Fulham on Saturday.
Other promoted teams like Leicester City and Southampton have also struggled to secure points. Leicester, like Ipswich, have one point from three games, while Southampton, along with Everton, have lost all three of their matches.
Leicester are currently 15th, Ipswich are 17th, and Southampton are in 19th place in the bottom three. Everton are at the very bottom with a goal difference of minus 8.
Shearer commented to Betfair: “In terms of the bottom of the table, it is what I thought it would be with the three promoted teams; theyโre going to struggle.”
“On the evidence from the first three games though, Ipswich are the ones that might have the best chance of survival.”
“Everton have struggled – I thought they would. It was a catastrophe for them being 2-0 up in the 87th minute (against Bournemouth) and then losing the game 3-2, so theyโll have a tough season.”
“Iโm reasonably happy with what Iโve predicted and what Iโve seen so far. Itโs very early.”
