Aston Villa aims to secure their sixth consecutive victory across all competitions as they face Ipswich Town in the Premier League this Sunday. Under Unai Emery’s management, Villa has only lost one match this season, a setback against title contenders Arsenal.

Ipswich, having endured a challenging start with matches against Liverpool and Manchester City, has stabilized their form since then, managing to draw their last three league games.

Sky Sports analysts Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have shared their predictions for the upcoming match at Portman Road, both leaning towards a victory for Villa. Keane expressed his confidence on the Stick to Football podcast, stating, “I am going Villa all day all day here.” Carragher supported this view, predicting a 3-0 win for Villa and remarked, “Nobody is beating (Emiliano) Martinez.”

Currently, Ipswich sits 17th in the table and has yet to secure a win this season. Despite their struggles, they can take some confidence from recent draws against Fulham, Brighton, and Southampton. Their earlier losses to Liverpool and Man City are understandable, though the defeat to AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup adds to their challenges.

In contrast, Aston Villa occupies the third spot in the Premier League, having won four of their five matches, with their only loss against Arsenal. They have also enjoyed success in their other competitions, winning their Europa League opener against Young Boys and advancing past Wycombe Wanderers in the League Cup.

Historically, Ipswich and Villa have clashed 61 times since their first encounter in an FA Cup match on January 7, 1939, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Over the years, Ipswich has secured 20 victories, while Villa has won 26 times, with 15 matches resulting in draws. Their most recent matchup was on January 26, 2019, in the Championship, where Villa emerged victorious with a score of 2-1.

As both teams prepare for this fixture, the contrasting forms and standings suggest a challenging game for Ipswich. With Villa riding high on confidence, Keane and Carragher’s predictions hint at a likely successful outing for the visitors at Portman Road.
