‘Looks Like A Player’ – Richard Keys Impressed With Ipswich Town Star

Richard Keys has shown his admiration for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, commenting that he “looks like a player.” Delap recently demonstrated his skills by scoring two goals, which helped Ipswich secure a point against Aston Villa in their Premier League match over the weekend.

Keys was particularly impressed with Delap’s performance and made a comparison to Manchester United’s recent signing, Joshua Zirkzee, who cost £36.5 million this summer. In his blog, Keys remarked, “Ipswich were good as well. Delap looks like a player.” He then posed a question to his readers, asking, “Who would you say is better value right now – him or Zirkzee?”

Furthermore, Keys noted that Delap had been playing right under Manchester United’s radar, highlighting a missed opportunity for the club. He stated, “Didn’t Delap used to play his football in Manchester as well? Right under the noses of the brains trust?” This comment underscores the irony of United’s oversight regarding a talented player who was so close to them.

Additionally, Keys expressed doubts about Zirkzee’s place in the Manchester United lineup once Rasmus Hojlund is fit to return. He raised a pertinent question: “A quick question on Zirkzee. Where does he fit in when Hojlund is fit?” This indicates that Keys sees potential complications for Zirkzee in the competitive environment at United.

So far this season, Delap has made a significant impact, scoring three goals in just six Premier League appearances, while Zirkzee has managed only one goal in the same number of matches. This statistical comparison further illustrates Delap’s effectiveness and potential value to Ipswich.

Ipswich Town secured Delap’s services from Manchester City in July, with the deal potentially reaching up to £20 million, reflecting both the club’s investment in his talent and their expectations for his performance on the field. As Delap continues to shine, he might not only elevate Ipswich’s standings but also raise questions about recruitment strategies at bigger clubs like Manchester United.

In summary, Richard Keys’ comments emphasize Delap’s promising future and question the decisions of larger clubs regarding player scouting and development. Delap’s immediate success at Ipswich makes him a player to watch in the ongoing season.
