Usain Bolt, the multiple Olympic champion, continues to make an impact in sports, not just through his past track achievements, but also by supporting the next generation of athletes, including his godson, NJ Junior Walker, who is showing promise in football.
Though Bolt retired from sprinting in 2017, his dedication to nurturing young talent remains strong, especially towards NJ Junior, who is emerging as a football star. As the young athlete carves out his own path, Bolt has been there to celebrate every milestone, big or small.
“Proud of my godson #NJJ. 5th in finals at Prep School championship,” Bolt posted in 2023, reflecting his pride in NJ Junior’s performance at a Jamaican school championship. Since then, his encouragement has only intensified as his godson continues to excel in youth football.
On October 22, 2024, Bolt once again praised NJ Junior after a standout performance at the Junior Cup in the Lamman’s Brings tournament, sharing an Instagram story featuring his godson and the team’s historic win. His heartfelt “Congrats” underscored his unwavering support.
That same day, Bolt also posted a clip of NJ Junior scoring two goals, highlighting the young player’s talent. “Don’t play with #99’s left foot,” Bolt proudly remarked, acknowledging NJ Junior’s skill under pressure.
NJ Junior’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Born prematurely in 2015, his early life tested the bond between Bolt and NJ Junior’s father, Nugent Walker. Throughout it all, Bolt has remained a constant support for the Walker family, a friendship that runs much deeper than business ties.
“While I’m there for him, he’s always there for me,” Nugent Walker has shared, illustrating the strength of their relationship, which now comes full circle as Bolt cheers for NJ Junior from the sidelines.
