Inverness Harriers president Charlie Forbes has been honored with honorary life membership of Scottish Athletics during the governing bodyโs annual general meeting held last weekend.
The recognition celebrates Forbesโ extensive contributions at club, district, national, and international levels, not only as a coach but also as an official. His officiating career includes high-profile events such as the 2005 European Cross Country Championships, the 2008 World Cross Country Championships, and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
With over 40 years of coaching experience, Forbes has been a pioneer in disability sports in the Highlands and has coached British international athletes Mhairi MacLennan and Jamie Bowie. Currently, he is a key figure in the campaign to refurbish Queens Park track, aiming to maintain its standards for hosting major competitions.
Forbesโ accolade adds to a successful month for Inverness Harriers, following Luke Davidsonโs victory in the Scottish 800m title and coach Ross Cairns being named Scottish Athletics Performance Coach of the Year at their annual awards ceremony.
