Arsenal Target Speedster Samuel Chukwueze in January Transfer as Saka Injury Forces Immediate Action

Arsenal were dealt a significant blow when Bukayo Saka sustained a serious hamstring injury during their victory over Crystal Palace last weekend. Following surgery, Mikel Arteta revealed that the star winger would be sidelined for around two months.

Although Arteta had planned to add a backup for Saka in the upcoming summer transfer window, Arsenal may expedite this move and target a winger in January due to the lack of natural right-wing options currently available.

Reports from Milan Live (via 90min) indicate that Arsenal are eyeing AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze in the winter window. The 25-year-old winger has had limited starts for Milan this season but has contributed with three goals and an assist in all competitions.

Despite his secondary role, Milan’s head coach, Paulo Fonseca, is reportedly open to selling the Nigerian for around £17 million. Arsenal could look to sweeten the deal by including Jakub Kiwior in a potential swap.

Chukwueze presents a practical short-term solution for Arsenal as they search for a right-winger during Saka’s absence. The Nigerian international is known for his pace, strong one-on-one skills, and ability to create chances.

Having previously showcased his talents at both Villarreal and Milan, Chukwueze would likely embrace the challenge of playing in England, particularly with regular first-team opportunities on offer for the next few months.

While mid-season transfers are often difficult to negotiate, Chukwueze’s potential arrival could significantly strengthen Arsenal’s attack in the latter part of the 2024/25 season and beyond. The £17 million fee is well within Arsenal’s budget, and a potential swap deal with Kiwior could further ease the financial commitment.
