The Next Hutchinson: Ipswich Eye Premier League Star for Vital January Move

Ipswich Town, one of the newly-promoted sides from the 2023/24 Championship season, are optimistic about their chances of staying in the Premier League beyond this campaign. Currently with the best points tally compared to other promoted teams, they have a solid 15 points, bolstered by a surprising 2-0 victory over Chelsea at the end of 2024, which has provided them with a boost in confidence.

However, the remainder of the season promises to be filled with challenges, so the January transfer window becomes crucial for them to strengthen their squad to secure survival. If Ipswich can pull off a rumoured transfer move, manager Kieran McKenna will feel even more confident about his team’s survival prospects.

Ipswich Interested in Premier League Starlet

According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth on X, Ipswich Town are keen to bring in Jaden Philogene-Bidace during this transfer window. The winger was previously set to join Ipswich from Hull City over the summer, but Aston Villa intervened at the last moment to sign him. Despite limited playing time at Villa Park—where he has started just two Premier League matches—Philogene-Bidace could be loaned out soon, with Ipswich monitoring his situation.

What Philogene-Bidace Could Bring to Ipswich

Described as having “ridiculous” ability on the ball by his former Hull manager Liam Rosenior, Philogene-Bidace could be an exciting addition to Ipswich, offering fans a more dynamic attacking option. His style is similar to that of Omari Hutchinson, who previously impressed Ipswich during his loan spell.

Ipswich fans would hope that Philogene-Bidace can bring the same spark Hutchinson provided last season, as the young winger was a standout performer for Hull City in the Championship. He scored 12 goals and provided six assists last season, with impressive overall stats. For comparison, Hutchinson played more games and scored 10 goals with five assists, but Philogene-Bidace’s numbers are notable, especially considering Hull missed out on the playoffs.

    Comparing Philogene-Bidace and Hutchinson’s Numbers (2023/24)

Philogene-Bidace has the potential to shine even more in the Premier League, much like Hutchinson has for Ipswich. The versatile winger can also play on the right, a position he’s filled for Hull, while Hutchinson’s adaptability could further complement the team’s attacking setup.

Ipswich are already strong going forward, but adding someone like Philogene-Bidace would offer McKenna even more attacking options to push further away from the relegation zone.
