The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for the upcoming NBA trade deadline, which is set for February 6, 2025, with the goal of improving their roster. Recent rumors suggest the Mavericks are focusing on adding wing players to enhance their lineup.

The team has reportedly shown interest in acquiring Jordan Clarkson from the Utah Jazz, especially for his scoring ability. The Jazz are open to trading him in exchange for future assets like draft picks or young players. A potential trade might involve second-round picks and players such as Naji Marshall, Dwight Powell, or Dante Exum to match Clarkson’s salary.

Another possible target is Matisse Thybulle from the Portland Trail Blazers, known for his defense. The Mavericks could look to offer Maxi Kleber and a 2025 first-round pick to land Thybulle, as they aim to bolster their defensive capabilities.

Several players on the Mavericks roster are being discussed in trade talks. Maxi Kleber’s name has come up as a potential trade piece, while Quentin Grimes, who was acquired in a trade with the Detroit Pistons, could also be moved again if a suitable deal arises. Daniel Gafford is another player who might be traded if a better fit for the team is found.

The Mavericks are looking to address weaknesses in their wing defense, and acquiring someone like Matisse Thybulle could provide them with the defensive stopper they need. The team’s front office is actively evaluating various trade options, aiming to strike a balance between short-term improvement and long-term strategy.
