Isaiah Thomas, a former Dallas Mavericks guard, is trying to make an NBA comeback after signing with the Salt Lake City Stars, the G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. Although Thomas hasn’t played in the NBA regularly since his All-NBA Second Team finish in 2017, he’s determined to return. He has only appeared in 31 games since the start of the 2020-21 season, including a brief stint with the Mavericks during the 2021-22 season, where he scored six points and recorded four assists on a 10-day contract.
Thomas previously played for several NBA teams, including the Lakers, Mavericks, Hornets, Pelicans, Wizards, and Nuggets, with his most recent experience being in the G-League while preparing for a call-up to the Phoenix Suns. In four G-League games last season, he averaged 33 points per game, later playing six games for the Suns and even seeing action in the playoffs. He is most remembered for his standout performance with the Boston Celtics, leading them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2017 and averaging 28.9 points per game while finishing fifth in MVP voting.
