Insider Leak: The Key Players Set to Take Over!

The Dallas Cowboys’ offseason began with a surprising move as the team replaced Mike McCarthy with head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Despite skepticism from around the league regarding the hire, the Cowboys’ front office is now shifting its attention to the 2025 NFL Draft.

The team has several key decisions to make, including the futures of starters Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, Eric Kendricks, Osa Odighizuwa, and Rico Dowdle, all of whom are set to become free agents. With so many essential players potentially leaving, addressing roster needs is a priority.

As part of this effort, the Cowboys are actively scouting talent, with team executives attending the Shrine Bowl and the Senior Bowl. Though their draft board is far from finalized, reports indicate that the team is particularly interested in selecting a wide receiver early in the draft.

According to Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, the Cowboys front office “will look” to draft a wide receiver within the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. This decision comes as the current draft class lacks the depth of previous years at the position.

With the 12th overall pick, Dallas is unlikely to land Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who possesses the size and athleticism to become a top-tier receiver. However, if they opt for a first-round receiver, Missouri’s Luther Burden III and Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka are strong candidates. Burden, in particular, would complement CeeDee Lamb well.

Alternatively, the Cowboys could wait until the second round to target Stanford’s Elic Ayomanor or hope that one of Texas Longhorns receivers Isaiah Bond or Matthew Golden remains available. Regardless of their approach, the early draft rumors suggest Dallas is prioritizing the addition of a No. 2 receiver, a move that could significantly enhance their offense next season.
