Kevin Durant Breaks a Record Not Seen Since 2006 – You Won’t Believe Who He Tied With!

Every time Kevin Durant steps onto the court for the Phoenix Suns, something remarkable seems to happen. After former teammate Kyrie Irving shared a heartfelt message about Durant nearing 30,000 points, Durant made history even before reaching that milestone. For the first time since 2006, he has hit at least four three-pointers in five consecutive games.

The last player to accomplish this feat? Raja Bell.

Bell was a key role player for the Suns during their “seven seconds or less” era. With Steve Nash and Amar’e Stoudemire leading the charge, Bell thrived as a 3-and-D specialist. Now, Durant has matched that mark, which comes as no surprise given his shooting prowess.

This season, Durant is shooting 40.8% from beyond the arc while attempting the most threes per game since the 2017-18 season—his time with the Golden State Warriors, where he was part of an NBA dynasty. His efficiency remains elite, as shown in a recent game where he had just 10 points through the third quarter before knocking down three straight three-pointers.

Throughout that game, Durant also engaged in trash talk with Gary Payton, which may have fueled his performance. If not, then his hot streak is simply a testament to his exceptional skill.

Kevin Durant Continues to Impress with the Suns

Having a generational talent is something every team desires, and when Phoenix acquired Durant, he instantly brought superstar energy to the squad. He commands attention like few others while remaining one of the most efficient scorers in NBA history.

Since the win against the Brooklyn Nets, Durant has been on fire from deep. In this stretch, he has hit four three-pointers in three games and five in two, all while shooting over 50% from three-point range. His efficiency remains at an elite level, aided by Devin Booker’s increased scoring, which has drawn defensive attention away from him.

As a result, Durant has consistently punished opposing defenses. During this five-game run, the Suns have won four of those contests and nine of their last twelve overall. This success comes at a crucial time, given the turbulence of January, including trade rumors surrounding Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic. However, those distractions haven’t impacted Durant, who has been through similar speculation before.

With the upcoming All-Star Game approaching, Durant will be the Suns’ lone representative after Booker was left off the roster. But there are still several games to play before then. Perhaps Durant will extend his streak with another four-plus three-pointer performance against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
