With the NBA trade deadline approaching on February 6, the Phoenix Suns are expected to make significant moves to improve their roster. After a strong start to the season, winning eight of their first nine games, the Suns have faced challenges but are currently on a hot streak, holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a 25-22 record.
The Suns were anticipated to be a top contender in the West this season with their star players, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, but the season has been disappointing. As a result, they are looking to upgrade their roster before the trade deadline.
Phoenix has been involved in several trade rumors, mainly revolving around Jimmy Butler. While the Suns continue to pursue Butler, they are also focused on strengthening their frontcourt depth. After adding Nick Richards from the Charlotte Hornets, the Suns are still seeking additional big men to enhance their frontcourt, with another player recently added to their trade target list.
According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the Suns have shown interest in acquiring Guerschon Yabusele from the Philadelphia 76ers. Sidery also noted that Phoenix has five minimum contracts available to match Yabusele’s $2 million deal.
Yabusele, who is in his first NBA season since 2018-19, has been performing well for the 76ers, averaging 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 45.5% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range. As a solid scorer and rebounder, Yabusele would provide the Suns with another reliable big man in their frontcourt rotation. While he would likely serve as a backup to Richards if acquired, he would be a significant upgrade over Mason Plumlee and could aid the Suns in their push for a deep playoff run.
