After the Mavericks made the shocking move to send Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and other assets, Nowitzki expressed his surprise on social media. He shared an emoji of a shocked face on X (formerly Twitter), capturing how many felt about the trade.
Luka Dončić, the face of the Mavericks since Nowitzki’s retirement, led the team to the NBA Finals last season and is a five-time All-NBA first-team player. He will be joining the Lakers alongside Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. In return, the Mavericks receive Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round pick in 2029. The Utah Jazz also get Jalen Hood-Schifino from the Lakers, along with second-round picks from the Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
