Bradley Beal’s Reluctance to Move Again Could Derail Trade Talks

Reports suggest that Bradley Beal would consider waiving his no-trade clause for a team in a contending position located in a warm climate, but according to Fred Katz, Sam Amick, and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, there’s another significant factor in his decision to stay with the Phoenix Suns.

A source close to Beal shared that he’s reluctant to move his family again, just under two years after his trade to the Suns. Since the trade, they’ve already relocated from Washington to Los Angeles before settling in Phoenix. Another trade could either mean another move or spending the rest of the season away from his wife and two children.

The source also mentioned that Beal is open to a limited number of destinations, with the priority being a contender. While he’s not fond of cold weather, he’s willing to endure it for the right situation.

The authors also refer to a report from last week stating that Beal wouldn’t accept a trade to the Bulls, who offer both cold weather and minimal playoff chances. This presents a challenge for the Suns, who are trying to find a team to take on Beal’s contract in order to acquire Jimmy Butler. Any team willing to take on Beal’s contract, which exceeds $110 million over the next two years, is likely in a rebuilding phase.

Additionally, the source reveals that Beal is interested in a move to Miami, but the Heat are not pursuing him due to his salary, long-term deal, and no-trade clause. Once Butler is traded, Miami’s focus will shift to clearing cap space for a top free-agent class in 2026.

The Suns are still the most likely team to make a strong push for Butler, but Beal’s situation may present too many complications to resolve before the Thursday trade deadline.
