Will Joel Embiid play tonight against Dallas-Philadelphia?
The Dallas Mavericks are set to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, with some unusual developments. Philly and Dallas exchanged Caleb Martin and Quentin Grimes earlier in the day. But the bigger question is: who will be playing in this game?
While Anthony Davis (abdominal strain), Dwight Powell (right hip strain), and Dereck Lively II (right ankle stress fracture) have already been ruled out, P.J. Washington was a late addition to the injury report for personal reasons—he’s with his wife after she gave birth. Caleb Martin, also involved in the trade, is out as well, dealing with a few injuries.
The primary focus is on Joel Embiid, who’s been sidelined for the last 15 games with a left knee issue. However, Embiid has been upgraded and is now listed as available for Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks. “Of course he is,” said a source, reflecting the anticipation surrounding his return. KJ Martin remains questionable due to a left foot stress reaction.
Other players out for the game include Andre Drummond (left toe injury recovery), Paul George (left finger extensor tendon strain), Eric Gordon (left knee soreness), Kyle Lowry (right hip soreness), and Jared McCain (left knee meniscus surgery).
Given that the 76ers are playing the second night of a back-to-back against the Miami Heat on Wednesday, it wouldn’t be surprising if Embiid’s minutes are limited. So far, in the 13 games he has played this season, he’s averaging 29.5 minutes per game.
