The Sixers have reportedly traded veteran guard Reggie Jackson and a 2026 first-round pick, which will be the least favorable among those from Oklahoma City, Houston, and the Los Angeles Clippers, to the Washington Wizards. While it’s unconventional to trade a first-round pick for a group of second-round picks, the 2026 pick going to Washington is seen as having low potential, given it’s the least favorable among three teams, including the strong Thunder and an emerging Rockets team. After losing two second-round picks in the KJ Martin salary dump, the Sixers have replenished their future with four second-round picks, which could turn into premium assets.
Butler, who was a second-round pick in 2021, impressed during his time with the Wizards on a two-way contract. Notably, he scored a career-high 26 points against the Sixers on January 8, making 11 of 19 shots and adding seven assists.
Jackson, who joined the Sixers last summer on a veteran minimum deal, never became a reliable part of the team’s guard rotation.
To make room for Butler, the Sixers waived two-way player Pete Nance, according to a source.
