The Golden State Warriors opted against trading for Nikola Vucevic before last week’s deadline, instead doubling down on rookie center Quinten Post, who had been earning a consistent spot in the rotation.
Despite coming off the bench on Monday as Steve Kerr went small against a Milwaukee Bucks team missing Giannis Antetokounmpo, Post once again validated Golden State’s decision, helping secure their second straight win since Jimmy Butlerโs arrival.
Quinten Post Stuns Fans with Clutch Fourth-Quarter Performance
Post delivered an impressive stat line against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, recording 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists on 7-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He thoroughly outplayed Vucevic for the second time in less than three weeks.
However, it was his remarkable fourth-quarter display on Monday that truly turned heads. The 52nd overall pick erupted for 11 points and three rebounds, drilling a series of three-pointers that helped extend the Warriorsโ lead over their Eastern Conference rival.
His scoring spree began with a wide-open corner three, the result of excellent ball movement from Golden State. But it was his sidestep, off-the-dribble three-pointer on a fast break that left teammates and fans in awe. The seven-footer followed up with a pair of free throws and another deep three, confidently launching early in the shot clock despite Brook Lopez closing in.
“Very much enjoying The Quinten Post Experience.” โ Kevin OโConnor
“Post is now taking contested threes with 19 on the shot clock and just ripping the net lol.” โ Jason Timpf
It wasnโt just the makes that impressedโit was the audacity to attempt such high-difficulty shots in a tight game. The 24-year-old has been encouraged to play with offensive aggression, a rare luxury for young Warriors under Steve Kerr.
Over the last 10 games, Post has attempted 46 three-pointers, converting 45.7% (21-of-46) while averaging 10.1 points in 17.8 minutes per game. While some may question the sustainability of his efficiency, his college numbersโ42.6% and 43.1% in his final two seasons at Boston Collegeโsuggest his shooting prowess is legitimate.
With Post’s emergence and Butler’s presence, the Warriors’ offense now has a fresh dynamic, offering real optimism that this squad can push for a postseason berth.
