The Los Angeles Lakers have flourished under first-year head coach JJ Redick, currently holding the fifth-best record in the Western Conference with fewer than 30 games left in the season. The midseason addition of Luka Doncic has further solidified their status as serious championship contenders as they aim for a higher playoff seeding.
However, the road ahead won’t be easy. Due to the devastating Los Angeles fires that led to multiple game postponements, including matchups against the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA issued a revised scheduleâone that has sparked outrage among Lakers fans.
Under the updated schedule, Los Angeles is now set to play six games in eight nights in mid-March, featuring three separate back-to-back sets: two against the Denver Nuggets and Bucks, and another against the Phoenix Suns and Spurs.
As this stretch nears, frustration has erupted on social media, with many fans directing their anger at NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
“It really feels like Adam Silver hates us,” one fan wrote.
“Adam Silver started off well, now he’s lost his mind. David Stern was better,” added another.
“This can’t be real,” a fan added.
“He is a clown!” a fan exclaimed.
“Literally insane,” another fan said. “Trying to run them into the ground.”
Despite the grueling schedule, the Lakers have performed well in games with no rest this season, holding a 5-2 record in such matchups. Their only losses came against the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. They will return to action on Saturday against the second-seeded Nuggets.
