Andrew Wiggins believes playing alongside Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro will be “easy” because they share the same goal—winning.
The Miami Heat’s newest addition is adjusting to his new team and has already found common ground with Adebayo and Herro.
“They’ve been a great duo,” Wiggins said after Friday’s game. “You saw it in overtime. They started us off in overtime, getting us a nice little lead and getting in a nice rhythm. So playing with these guys, I feel like it’s going to be easy. They’re unselfish. They just want to win and so do I.”
Friday marked Wiggins’ third game with the Heat since being traded before the deadline, and it was his most impressive performance yet. In the overtime win, he played over 42 minutes, scoring 25 points while adding eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals. He shot 9-of-19 from the field and hit two of his six three-point attempts.
His efforts helped the Heat secure a 120-111 victory over the Toronto Raptors, snapping a four-game losing streak. Adebayo contributed 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Herro led the way with 28 points and seven assists.
Wiggins’ performance was a significant improvement from his first two outings with Miami, where he struggled, shooting just 29.2 percent from the field. However, he bounced back in Toronto, showing flashes of the player who was an All-Star and NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors in 2021-22.
If he can replicate that form, it would be a huge boost for the Heat, who acquired him in exchange for disgruntled star Jimmy Butler. Meanwhile, Butler is now trying to help the Warriors contend in the Western Conference.
The Heat, currently below .500, still hold a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference and hope to maximize their chances in a competitive playoff race. Their next challenge comes on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks, where Wiggins will look to celebrate his 30th birthday with a win.
