3 NFL Free Agents Who Could Give the Cowboys Quality OL Depth

The Dallas Cowboys have a projected starting offensive line featuring Tyler Guyton (LT), Tyler Smith (LG), Cooper Beebe (C), Brock Hoffman (RG), and Terence Steele (RT). While this lineup is capable of playing a game immediately, the team should aim to strengthen the unit, particularly in run blocking and pass protection.

Although the Cowboys are unlikely to move on from Guyton after just one season, they should bring in competition to challenge him during training camp. The same applies to Steele and Hoffman at right tackle and right guard, respectively. Fortunately, the free agency market is full of quality offensive linemen who could provide valuable depth without exceeding the team’s budget.

    Potential Free Agent Targets

    Drew Dalman, OC (Atlanta Falcons)

The Cowboys currently have Cooper Beebe at center, but he is relatively new to the position, having played mostly at guard in college. With the recent hiring of Conor Riley—Beebe’s former offensive line coach at Kansas State—there’s a possibility the team could move Beebe back to guard. If that happens, Drew Dalman, a top-five center over the past two seasons, would be an excellent addition.

At 26 years old, Dalman is expected to command a contract around $11.5 million per year. While this is more than what the Cowboys typically spend in free agency, solidifying the offensive line for the long term could make it a worthwhile investment.

    Kevin Zeitler, OG (Detroit Lions)

With Zack Martin’s retirement, the right guard position becomes a major need for the Cowboys. Kevin Zeitler, a veteran nearing the end of his career, would be a strong short-term solution.

Despite being 35 years old, Zeitler remains an effective and reliable player. Pro Football Focus projects him to receive a one-year, $6.25 million deal this offseason. Having been a key part of both the Lions’ and Ravens’ offensive success in recent years, Zeitler could bring the stability and toughness that the Cowboys’ offensive line has lacked.

Jedrick Wills Jr., OT (Cleveland Browns)

One of the most intriguing free-agent fits for Dallas is Jedrick Wills Jr., a former first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Though injuries have hampered his recent seasons, Wills’ talent makes him an attractive, low-cost option.

Originally a right tackle at Alabama, Wills has played mostly left tackle in the NFL. His versatility allows him to compete for a starting spot at either tackle position in training camp. Because of his injury history, Wills is projected to sign a one-year, $3 million deal, making him a low-risk, high-reward option for Dallas behind Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele.

With several viable free-agent options available, the Cowboys have an opportunity to bolster their offensive line depth without making massive financial commitments.
