Rumors are swirling that Kevin Durant could be traded this summer, and the Miami Heat should be paying attention.

An NBA insider has revealed that Durant’s future in Phoenix is uncertain, with reports suggesting the Suns will move him during the off-season. ESPN’s Shams Charania stated that significant changes to the Suns’ roster are expected, starting with Durant.

Charania’s comments follow ESPN’s Brian Windhorst’s report that it is clear Durant will be traded to a contender this summer. Charania further noted that the Suns and Durant will collaborate on finding a destination, with 4-6 contending teams likely to be involved in the trade discussions.

Despite being 36, Durant remains one of the NBA’s top players, averaging 26.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists with a 53% shooting rate. As he enters the final year of a four-year, $194 million contract, Durant will be eligible for an extension, giving him leverage in trade talks and potentially allowing him to select his next team.

The Miami Heat are among the teams that could make a push for Durant. Adding him would give the Heat their top scorer since LeBron James left in 2014. Although trade talks between the Heat and Suns were reportedly discussed before last month’s deadline, the two teams could not reach an agreement. However, if Durant wants to finish his career in Miami, he could steer the trade in that direction.
