Craig Bellamy eyes Welsh star as Celtic’s next big signing

Craig Bellamy is about to be one happy man — and not just because of his managerial success with Wales. Behind the scenes at Celtic Park, a familiar strategy is being deployed that could send shockwaves through both club and country. The Scottish giants are closing in on signing Callum Osmand, a dazzling 19-year-old Welsh striker, who’s being tipped as the next breakout star from Fulham’s academy — and if history repeats itself, Celtic fans know exactly what kind of magic that can bring.

Fans will remember how Celtic struck gold when they signed Moussa Dembele from Fulham as a teenager. That move turned out to be a masterstroke. Now, lightning looks set to strike twice, with Osmand potentially the next name to explode onto the Scottish football scene — and maybe even the world stage.

Though Osmand has yet to feature for Fulham’s senior side, that hasn’t stopped the Hoops from moving fast. The deal is reportedly close to completion, and fans are already dreaming about what the young forward could become under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers. With Kyogo Furuhashi making a January exit, the vacancy up top is not just strategic — it’s symbolic. And Celtic aren’t just replacing a striker — they’re building their future.

And no one might be more excited about this move than Craig Bellamy himself.

“If Osmand signs for Celtic, then that senior cap for Wales is around the corner,” a source close to the Welsh setup hinted. With the 2026 World Cup edging closer, Bellamy — who’s already making waves as Wales’ new manager — will be watching Osmand’s development closely. After all, this is a player born in Wales, with international pedigree at youth level, and now set to play regular club football at a high level.

Unlike Scotland’s Steve Clarke, who often favors experience over youthful risk, Bellamy has shown he’s not afraid to throw his young stars into the fire. And Osmand may be just the kind of fearless forward he’s been waiting for. Bellamy’s managerial style is bold, intense, and passionate — just like his playing days — and it’s the perfect environment for a young gun like Osmand to flourish.

Bellamy’s past at Celtic, though brief, was fiery and unforgettable. The former Premier League hitman made an instant impact, scoring a dramatic winner in a Glasgow derby and lifting the Scottish Cup. That passion still burns, only now it’s from the dugout — and watching a future Wales frontman thrive at his former club must bring a special kind of satisfaction.

Celtic fans should buckle up. Osmand’s potential arrival isn’t just about filling a void left by Kyogo — it’s about reigniting a connection between Celtic and Wales, with Craig Bellamy acting as an unofficial bridge. From Parkhead to the World Cup? If Osmand shines in green and white, Bellamy might be the first to pick up the phone.

And if history is any indication, when Celtic bets on a young Fulham striker — the results are electric.
