“We’re Gonna Win” or Flame Out? Cowboys’ New Coach Brian Schottenheimer’s Bold Claim Leaves Fans Fuming: “This Will NOT Age Well!”

The Dallas Cowboys’ 2025 season hasn’t even kicked off, but new head coach Brian Schottenheimer has already stirred the pot—and not in the way fans were hoping. With a star-studded roster featuring Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and new offensive weapon George Pickens, expectations are sky-high in Dallas. But Schottenheimer’s recent media appearance may have just put an unnecessary target on his back.

In what’s becoming the talk of NFL circles, Schottenheimer confidently told reporters, “We’re gonna win. And when we win, our coaching staff is going to get raided. People are going to come after our coaches, because we’re gonna win.” That declaration, made at The Star Training Facility in Frisco, has ignited a social media storm, with fans and analysts alike questioning both his confidence and credibility.

The Schottenheimer era in Dallas follows the departure of Mike McCarthy, whose tenure ended in disappointment despite three straight 12-win regular seasons. While optimism lingers due to a healthy roster and elite talent, fans are not convinced that bold declarations are the right way to start the campaign.

One fan bluntly posted, “This will not age well. It’ll be interesting to see how he tries to clean this quote up in January 😂😂😂.” Another chimed in, “He’s been around long enough to know all the right things to say. But his chops stop there.” That sentiment reflects the skepticism from a large portion of Cowboys Nation who feel Schottenheimer is talking the talk without yet proving he can walk the walk.

Even more biting was this jab from a fan clearly tired of hollow promises: “Dude wants to be the Eagles soo badddd. Does he forget that they have a staff of NFL coach leftovers?” And the humor wasn’t lost on others either, with comments like “He thinks they the Eagles😂,” poking fun at the overconfidence.

Social media isn’t the only place where doubts are bubbling. Veteran analysts are pointing out that Schottenheimer’s coaching resume lacks the playoff success that would back up such swagger. While optimism in a new hire is expected, many wonder whether Schottenheimer’s statements are coming from belief—or desperation.

Let’s not forget the stakes in Dallas. Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones stood proudly beside Schottenheimer during his January introductory press conference, projecting confidence in their new hire. But Cowboys fans know better than to fall for empty hype, especially after so many years of postseason frustration.

The bigger question remains: can Schottenheimer deliver on his prophecy? Or will this quote come back to haunt him when January rolls around and playoff aspirations are on the line?

Right now, it’s less about whether the Cowboys will win—and more about whether their head coach has already lost the locker room and the fanbase before the first snap.
