Celtics Won’t Budge on Jaylen Brown or Derrick White Without ‘Insurmountable’ Offer!

As the Boston Celtics head into the offseason, they’re facing a wave of trade rumors. With the financial pressures from the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the team is expected to cut down on significant salary commitments.

This situation might force Boston to part ways with a few major contributors. So far, the players most frequently mentioned in trade talks have been Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.

But other names have surfaced as well, including Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. Despite the speculation, it appears the Celtics have no intention of moving either player—unless an extraordinary trade offer comes along.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the team would only consider dealing Brown or White for an “insurmountable” return.

    > “I’m sure teams are throwing crazy offers for guys like Jaylen Brown and Derrick White… it will take a pretty insurmountable package to get those guys out of Boston,” Charania said.

Like any franchise with top-tier talent, Boston is reluctant to let go of its foundational players. Brown and White are vital to the team’s system, and there’s no current indication they’ll be on the move.

Still, the NBA offseason can be unpredictable. A blockbuster offer could force Boston to at least entertain the possibility—especially given Jayson Tatum’s lingering injury concerns.

While the Celtics aim to remain in the title race, there’s speculation they might take a step back next season if Tatum misses significant time. Some have even suggested it could be a “gap year” for the team.

Regardless, Boston won’t be offloading talent without a clear benefit. The front office is focused on moves that will set the team up well for the future, and this summer could prove crucial to shaping that path.
