Following the 2025 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers wasted no time rounding out their summer league roster by signing several undrafted free agents.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers added former North Carolina guard RJ Davis, while The Athletic’s Dan Woike reported the team also picked up former Texas wing Arthur Kaluma. Both players agreed to Exhibit 10 contracts, which are non-guaranteed deals often used to secure training camp invites. These contracts allow teams to convert players to two-way contracts or send them to the G League ahead of the regular season.
Earlier, the Lakers had already filled a two-way slot by signing Eric Dixon, last season’s leading scorer in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
Though Davis and Kaluma face an uphill battle in securing a permanent spot on the Lakers’ final roster, both will have the opportunity to showcase their abilities during summer league play next month. Realistically, they’re likely to land with the team’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, after training camp.
Davis, who spent all five years of his college eligibility at North Carolina, wrapped up his final season averaging 17.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting 41.3% from the field, 35.4% from three, and 87.3% from the free-throw line across 37 games.
Kaluma’s college path was more emblematic of the modern transfer era. He started at Creighton for two seasons, moved to Kansas State, and then finished at Texas. In his final year, he averaged 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 33 games, shooting 46.2% from the field, 35.9% from deep, and 78.4% from the line.
With the NBA Summer League approaching, expect the Lakers to continue adding depth to their roster. Kaluma and Davis are set to join a group that already includes Bronny James and Adou Thiero, the No. 36 pick in this year’s draft.
