Kevin Durant’s transfer to the Houston Rockets became official on Sunday, concluding a massive seven-team trade involving the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s being called the biggest trade in NBA history.

Alongside Durant, the Rockets also picked up Clint Capela. In return, the Suns acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Daeqwon Plowden, and three 2025 rookies: Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, and Koby Brea. They also received a pair of second-round picks.

The Lakers walked away with rookie Adou Thiero and some cash, while the Warriors secured 2025 second-rounders Alex Toohey (No. 52) and Jahmai Mashack (No. 59).
Brooklyn took in two future second-round picks, the Hawks gained David Roddy, a second-round pick, and cash, and the Timberwolves ended up with rookie Rocco Zikarsky, two second-rounders, and cash, according to NBA.com.

Durant, 35, played for the Suns from 2023 to 2025, averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 145 regular-season games.

Following the announcement, the Suns publicly thanked Durant with a heartfelt graphic and a short message: “Thank you, KD.”

Durant was traded to Phoenix by the Nets in 2023 in exchange for several unprotected first-round picks, Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges, and Jae Crowder. Despite forming a high-powered trio with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns failed to reach the conference finals and missed the playoffs entirely last season.

In an unrelated moment, Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese recently celebrated like Kevin Durant during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
