Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst made a strong comparison between young guard Ryan Rollins and a seasoned NBA player after Rollins inked a new contract in free agency.
The Bucks secured Rollins on a three-year deal following a promising stretch off the bench last season. He was among several free agents the franchise decided to retain, aiming to build continuity and foster team chemistry.
In the previous season, Rollins appeared in 56 games, averaging 14.6 minutes. He contributed 6.2 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per contest.
In an interview with The Athletic, Horst expressed optimism about Rollins’ potential to carve out a lengthy NBA career.
“But he is a big guard that’s physical, that can shoot. He’s been coming on as a playmaker, can finish in traffic, and is a good defender on the ball, which we want,” Horst said.
He added:
“I say this all the time and I say this with affection because he is one of my favorite people and I think he’ll love this shout-out.
He reminds me of George Hill. I think he has a George Hill-type career in front of him and that’s high, high praise in my opinion because G-Hill is one of the best people that I’ve been around.”
George Hill, who spent four seasons with the Bucks, was known for his balanced play on both ends—offering leadership, solid playmaking, and tenacious defense.
Should Rollins reach that standard, the Bucks may have found a significant piece for their rotation.
