Chelsea players ‘urge board to axe Mauricio Pochettino’ as team begins to turn against manager

Chelsea players departed Stamford Bridge amid a chorus of boos following their 2-2 draw against Burnley on Saturday.

Unrest looks to be developing behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge, with several Chelsea players apparently asking for Mauricio Pochettino’s dismissal at the conclusion of the season.

The former Tottenham manager has battled to get his team going, with the Blues’ problems highlighted when they failed to defeat 10-man Burnley over the weekend.

Chelsea were given a great opportunity to climb into the top half of the Premier League on Saturday after Lorenz Assignon received a second yellow card for taking down Mykhaylo Mudryk inside the penalty area. Cole Palmer despatched the next penalty attempt with ease, although Pochettino’s side had a difficult time following the opening.

The Clarets responded swiftly after halftime, with a spectacular volley from Josh Cullen nestling into the far corner, but Palmer restored his team’s advantage in the 78th minute by finishing off a slick passing play. Burnley replied again, with Dara O’Shea thumping home an equaliser three minutes later.

The Blues shuffled off the ground to a chorus of boos after full-time, with supporters dissatisfied with the weekly displays. However, it does not appear that just fans are dissatisfied with the club’s current trajectory.

According to HITC, certain Chelsea players have’made it known’ to the club’s owners that they would want to see a new manager in the Stamford Bridge dugout next season.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are aware of the unhappiness, and the Blues’ higher-ups are already weighing the various managerial alternatives to succeed Pochettino at the conclusion of the season – but no decision has been taken on whether another dismissal is necessary.

The former Southampton manager insists that he can turn things around if given time, while there are alleged to be ‘concerns’ from people within the club about how the team is behaving to his Management – and some players revolting behind his back – may indicate that he is losing control of the dressing room.

Pochettino will be hoping that his side can back to winning ways when they face Manchester United on Thursday night, and a victory would surely silence his detractors, both from supporters and those inside his own club.
