The Green Bay Packers have been doing their study ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. With five selections in the first three rounds, the Packers have a lot of options for adding some major talent.

Most pundits expect the Packers to target safety, offensive tackle, and linebacker over the first three rounds. Those are viewed as the Packers’ most pressing requirements heading into the 2024 season.

The general manager is still interested in a defensive back that the Packers did not invite in for a pre-draft visit.

Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst Speaks On One Prospect The Packers Did Not Bring In For A Visit.

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:

Gutekunst on Cooper DeJean playing corner and safety:

“I think he can do both. I think he’s very versatile that way. I think he’s obviously a very good athlete. His ability to take the ball away is very impressive. Obviously he’s got some teams ability as well, so he’s a very well-rounded player.”

In free agency, the Packers signed Xavier McKinney to fill a critical need at safety. Last season, their defense allowed 20.6 points per game, which ranked 10th in the NFL.

In addition to Jaire Alexander at corner, the Packers have a large number of pass rushers. Having said that, their defense still has to fix a few gaps before they can think about a title. One of those needs is to locate another Safety / Defensive Back to partner alongside McKinney.

Malcom Jenkins, a former Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints player, was the defense’s Swiss Army knife.

Cooper DeJean may become that for the Packers. Malcolm played all three positions: safety, cornerback, and nickelback. Cooper DeJean, like Malcolm, excels at numerous positions.

Cooper, in my opinion, should be positioned in the midst of the safety and nickel categories.

With this signing, the Packers might solve a variety of positional needs. Cooper, like Jenkins, does not leave the field when playing defense.
