On Sunday, Chicago Cubs legend Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run home ball against the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers, reaching 300 for his career.
In the eighth inning, with the New York Yankees leading the Brewers 13-5, Rizzo hit a two-run home ball to center field, increasing the advantage. It was the Yankees’ second consecutive game with 15 runs versus the Brewers.
Although Rizzo has left the Cubs after being traded during the 2021 season, the North Side faithful remember all the four-time Gold Glover and three-time All-Star contributed for Chicago. Most notably, the reliable first baseman helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016.
Rizzo was a fixture in the Cubs’ lineup during the team’s comeback and return to baseball prominence. In portions of ten seasons with the Cubs, the former Silver Slugger hit 242 home runs, 283 doubles, and 784 RBIs, with a.272 batting average and.861 OPS.
Rizzo is cutting in preparation for the 2024 season.277/.341/.446 with five home runs and fifteen RBIs. Although Rizzo no longer wears Cubbie blue, Chicago fans are always pleased to see the franchise great score 15 runs against one of their division rivals.
Congratulations to Anthony Rizzo for achieving a monumental milestone in his career!
