The Los Angeles Lakers are stepping into the offseason with numerous critical questions that demand answers.
Initial reports had set off a flurry of speculation suggesting that the Lakers were keen on JJ Redick as their next head coach. However, recent updates indicate a significant shift in interest towards Dan Hurley.
While the head coaching decision is paramount, the Lakers are equally focused on enhancing their roster for the 2024-25 season.

With LeBron James approaching his 40th birthday in December, the strategy is to build the team around Anthony Davis. In line with this approach, the Lakers are eyeing a notable addition to bolster their lineup.
Lakers Update: Zach Edey Set for Pre-Draft Visit
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reports that the Lakers have scheduled a pre-draft visit with Purdueโs Zach Edey. Projected to be drafted anywhere between the 9th and 19th pick, Edey could be available when the Lakers select at No. 17 overall.
Anthony Davis has repeatedly expressed his preference for playing at the 4 rather than the 5, even requesting additional help at the center position to minimize physical strain.
Edey’s inclusion would address this need perfectly. Standing at 7’4″, Edey is a dominant force in the paint, known for setting formidable screens and using his length to effectively defend the rim.
His prowess on the glass and his scoring touch around the rim have been impressive, as evidenced by his average of 23.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game over the past two seasons.
While Edey’s perimeter defense might not be his strong suit, his ability to control the area around the basket would complement Davis’s athleticism.
This dynamic would allow Davis, a nine-time All-Star, to utilize his versatility across the court without the physical toll of playing center.
Reflecting on their 2020 championship win, the Lakers benefited from a robust big-man rotation including Davis, Dwight Howard, and JaVale McGee.
Revisiting this strategy with Edey in the fold could prove to be a compelling solution for the Lakers, positioning them to make a strong run in the upcoming season.
