Brendan Rodgers has a wealth of talent at Celtic, providing young players like Adam Idah with great learning opportunities. At just 22, Idah plays and presents himself as if he has much more experience.

During his loan, the Republic of Ireland international excelled at Celtic, scoring nine goals and helping secure another Scottish Premiership title and a Scottish Cup. Now back permanently, Idah acknowledges one ‘unbelievable’ player he’s learning from as he seeks to enhance his game.

Idah views Kyogo Furuhashi as a key role model despite competing for a starting position. He appreciates the friendly rivalry and shares how he benefits from observing the Japanese striker.

Idah stated, “Look, I’ve got a job to do and that is to score goals, whether I start or I’m on the bench it doesn’t really matter in my head. I want to score as many goals as I can this season, just like Kyogo. He’s an unbelievable player, and I don’t think it matters to him whether he’s starting or on the bench; we both have the same aim, which is to score goals and help this team. I think we’ve got off to a pretty good start this season.”

He added, “Do I think that we bring the best out in each other? Yeah, definitely. It’s friendly competition. It’s the same in training; we’re always working hard and there is no bitterness between us. We’re friendly with each other, and he helps me just like I help him. It’s great; he’s a good player to look up to, a good role model, and I can learn a few things from him on the pitch too.”

Kyogo has made a significant impact at Celtic since his £4.5m move from Vissel Kobe in 2021. With 75 goals and 16 assists, he has contributed to three league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two League Cups. Now at 29, Kyogo is ideally positioned to mentor younger teammates like Idah, who looks to repay the investment Celtic made in him last summer.
