After securing Declan Rice from West Ham United in the summer of 2023, Arsenal might strike again with another potential blow to the Hammers.
Arsenal’s £105 million signing of Rice seemed beneficial for West Ham at the time, but the club has struggled to fill the void left by the 25-year-old midfielder. West Ham has been lacking Rice’s strength, pace, and ball-carrying ability, which has left their midfield noticeably slow.
Meanwhile, Rice has been thriving at Arsenal, now competing for top honors every season. In contrast, West Ham’s midfield struggles have become evident, and the Hammers are arguably dealing with one of the slowest midfield setups in the Premier League.
The priority for West Ham this month might be securing a new centre-forward, but their task could become even more difficult due to Arsenal’s current transfer intentions.
According to Tuttosport, Arsenal is reportedly in pole position to sign Randal Kolo Muani in the January window, a major blow for West Ham. West Ham’s manager, Julen Lopetegui, is believed to have been keen on bringing the French international to the London Stadium, but now it seems Arsenal could clinch the deal instead.
Kolo Muani, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Eintracht Frankfurt for a massive £76 million in the summer of 2023, has faced challenges justifying his high price tag. Despite only registering 11 goals and seven assists in 54 appearances, he is still considered an elite talent.
His physical attributes, including his pace, power, and movement, have earned him recognition as an “explosive” player, according to the Bundesliga’s official website.
While Kolo Muani’s time at PSG hasn’t gone as planned, there is no doubt about his potential, especially given his physical prowess. Unfortunately for West Ham, it appears Arsenal is now in the driver’s seat to secure his signature, which would represent another setback for the Hammers following the loss of Rice.
