The Minnesota Timberwolves’ first-round sweep of the Phoenix Suns in the 2024 NBA playoffs marked a significant achievement for both the team and their rising star, Anthony Edwards.
This victory was particularly special for Edwards, as it involved defeating his childhood hero and future Olympic teammate, Kevin Durant.
Despite the triumph, Edwards revealed in a conversation with former NBA player Jalen Rose that the win was bittersweet.
“I won’t lie—I felt a little bad about it,” Edwards admitted, with Durant present. “He’s been my favorite player for as long as I can remember. I didn’t want to be the one to send him home.”
Throughout the series, Edwards delivered an exceptional performance, averaging 31 points, eight rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
His outstanding play contributed to the Suns’ early exit from the playoffs, marking their first failure to reach the conference semifinals since 2020.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the first clash between these two teams in the 2025 season, set for November 17.
