Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards recently faced criticism for his remarks about the older generation of NBA players, excluding Michael Jordan, which drew the attention of Rasheed Wallace.

In a recent episode of *The Sheed & Tyler Show*, the former NBA champion expressed his views on Edwards, noting that he still has much to prove to be considered among the league’s elite, particularly due to his defensive skills.

“I like Ant-Man too, but here’s my thing: at this point in his career, in my opinion, he’s not better than Derrick McKey,” Wallace stated. “He’s not better than Grant Hill. He’s not better than Scottie Pippen. You know what I’m saying?”

“I’m talking both sides of the ball now. You know Derrick McKey was a defender. He is not a defender. He’s improving, but he’s not that defender yet,” Wallace added.

Edwards had a standout season in 2023-24, averaging 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals on 46.1 percent shooting from the field over 79 regular season games. He led the Timberwolves to their first Western Conference Finals appearance since 2004.

With his exceptional performance last season, Anthony Edwards has become a prominent name in the NBA. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the 23-year-old swingman has the sixth-best odds to win the NBA MVP award at +1,200.

With their core largely unchanged, expectations are high for Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves for the upcoming season, and it will be intriguing to see if they can surpass their achievements from last term.
