Jay Bothroyd’s Bold Claim: Arsenal Target Poised to Outscore Haaland at Manchester City with Guardiola

Jay Bothroyd suggested that a striker Arsenal is interested in signing this summer could potentially outscore Erling Haaland if he were to play for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola’s management.

Arsenal will seek to complete their squad during the summer, aiming to address any remaining gaps after narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League title once more this season.

Kai Havertz’s performances since being forced up front have certainly quiet many of his detractors, but the striker position is still one area where some fans believe the team could improve before the next season. The Arsenal have been associated with a number of names, including Alexander Isak.

Alexander Isak is a better striker than Erling Haaland

Isak has had an excellent season for Newcastle United, scoring 21 goals in his 30 Premier League outings.

Mikel Arteta and Edu are both huge fans of Isak, and it appears that Jay Bothroyd is as well, as the analyst told The Optus Sport Football Podcast that he would choose the Newcastle player to lead the line in his season-ending team.

“He’s the best number nine, if he was to play for City, he would score more goals than Haaland. He’s a better finisher, he’s a better all-round player, he’s better at one on ones. He’s faster,” he said.

Newcastle have plan in place to keep Arsenal target

Of course, Arsenal will be fully aware of how tough it will be to tempt Isak away from St James’ Park, especially given that the Magpies shattered their transfer record to buy him in the first place.

And it appears that Newcastle are prepared to make a major push to keep the 24-year-old on Tyneside.

According to TBR Football, Newcastle is ready to make Isak their highest-paid player ever, and they are convinced that he will choose to extend his contract with the club.

Newcastle have great expectations having seeing Champions League football this season, and retaining Isak appears to be absolutely critical to achieving those ambitions.

Arsenal will need to present a significant offer to persuade Newcastle to engage in negotiations.
