Bayern Munich’s recently appointed manager, Vincent Kompany, has urged the club’s leadership to pursue a striker who has been strongly linked with a transfer to Arsenal.
This comes as Mikel Arteta, despite his team scoring 91 league goals last season, expresses his eagerness to bring in a center-forward to strengthen Arsenal’s squad.
By providing his list of preferred targets to Edu, it appears that Arsenal could take one of two paths. They could aim to acquire a prolific goal-scorer of top-tier status, potentially competing directly with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Within that category, Arsenal’s choices seem to narrow down to either Alexander Isak or Victor Osimhen.
However, both players seem financially out of reach for Arsenal this summer, especially since the club also intends to allocate funds to strengthen other positions.
Another option for Arteta is to pursue a younger player with the potential to grow into a top striker, serving initially as Kai Havertz’s backup.
Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Zirzkee, and Brian Brobbey all meet the criteria in this regard. However, it’s a disappointment for Arsenal as Kompany is now interested in signing one of these three players for Bayern Munich.

Vincent Kompany is keen on bringing in Joshua Zirkzee, a target for Arsenal, with the plan for him to partner with Harry Kane.
Bologna’s 23-year-old Zirkzee is reportedly a top priority signing for Kompany, who sees the Dutch player as a complement to Kane in the team.
TBR Football recently reported Arsenal’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee, who is valued at £50 million, a situation that would not be ideal for Bayern’s involvement.
The information about Bayern’s interest was revealed by journalist Rudy Galetti on X platform. Galetti mentioned that Kompany urged Bayern’s management to contemplate re-signing Zirkzee, who departed the club as recently as 2022.
Galetti confirmed, “Vincent Kompany has also requested Bayern to explore the possibility of bringing Zirkzee back to the Bundesliga.”
“In his plans, the [Dutchman] could play as a second striker alongside Kane. The [German] club is making internal evaluations in this regard.”
Naturally, Chelsea’s newfound interest in outbidding Arsenal for Sesko could lead to frustration. Arsenal typically avoids getting entangled in bidding wars, as they often result in clubs overpaying and not getting good value for their investments.
However, pursuing at least two of their three ‘project’ options might lead to such bidding wars. Although there are numerous other options available in the market, Arsenal prefers to conduct their transfer activities early in the summer.
That being noted, another one of Arsenal’s center-forward choices has indicated that he is not keen on a transfer.
