Beatrice Chebet, the double Olympic champion, is riding high after setting yet another world record following her stunning performance in Barcelona. But what exactly does she eat to achieve such success?

Chebet had an exceptional 2024 season, dominating in athletics by defending her World Cross Country title, setting a new 10,000m world record at the Prefontaine Classic, and breaking the 5km world record with a time of 13:54 at the Cursa dels Nassos on New Year’s Eve. This was the perfect ending to an incredible year, which also saw her secure two Olympic gold medals in Paris.
To maintain her top-tier performance, Chebet pays careful attention to her diet. She sticks to simple, traditional Kenyan foods that have served her well throughout her career.
“I like ugali because it has energy and after training, I have to eat it,” Chebet shared with NTV just before her record-breaking feat. “I also love white meat and chapati is also my favourite. Milk is also good, and mursik, which is a fermented milk, is a great companion to ugali.”
Despite the demands of elite sports, Chebet stays true to her roots and prefers eating familiar foods, sticking to what she grew up with. As she gears up for another season, more success is expected from the 24-year-old, especially with the World Championships in Tokyo looming in September.
