Australian sprinting sensation Gout Gout, who has rapidly become a rising star on the global athletics scene, is making waves in the sport, particularly after surpassing numerous records previously held by the legendary Usain Bolt. With an impressive performance in the Under-20 World Championship last year, where he bagged silver in the 200m, Gout has set his sights firmly on the senior World Athletics Championship in Tokyo this September. The 17-year-old has shattered Oceanian and Australian records, making it clear that he’s ready to dominate the world stage.

In his meteoric rise, Gout has formed a close bond with Olympic champion Noah Lyles. The duo first trained together earlier this year and have since built a strong relationship, with Lyles even giving Gout the affectionate nickname “Little Bro.” In a recent interview with FOX Sports Australia, Gout shared the camaraderie between the two, revealing, “He calls me ‘Little Bro’ so we definitely have a great connection.”

Not just a mentor, Lyles also keeps in touch with Gout regularly, offering words of encouragement. “He messages me occasionally, and I tell him ‘Congratulations’ and stuff like that. He’s a great guy,” Gout said. The young athlete has even hinted that he’s determined to challenge Lyles in the future. “I gave him a nudge. I told him I’d be running up his a** for sure,” Gout added, showcasing his ambition to compete at the highest level.

Lyles, recognizing Gout’s talent and potential, has also offered his advice. “Some of it is definitely physical. I’m still a teenager and haven’t grown into my body yet,” Gout admitted. He continued, “Still getting my grown man’s strength, as Noah would say, and just working on those little aspects, a couple of things at the start, gaining power and strength.”

With time on his side, Gout is clearly aiming high, revealing his ultimate goal: “The goal is winning the Olympics and winning World Championships. Honestly, dominating like Bolt did. I think that limit is reachable for me.” Gout’s ambition doesn’t end there, as he sets his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2032 Brisbane Games, where he hopes to be on the podium alongside other elite sprinters, including Lyles. “The times I’ve run so far could potentially make it into finals, make the top four, top five, top six,” he said confidently, setting his sights on greatness.

As the rivalry between Gout and Lyles heats up, it’s clear the young Australian has big plans to leave his mark on the world of sprinting.
