Cam Johnson has been a sought-after player on the trade market, drawing interest from several teams. Among them, the Sacramento Kings are emerging as strong contenders, according to Marc Stein.
โWhile the Pacers remain a team to monitor for Johnson, sources said, Sacramento continues to be mentioned as a potential suitor for Brooklyn’s in-demand marksman as well,โ Stein reported.
โOne Western Conference executive insisted this week that the Kings might have the best shot at Johnson โฆ if Brooklyn indeed proves willing to trade him,โ Stein continued. โThe executive told me that the likely framework of a future first-round pick packaged with the contracts of Kevin Huerter and Trey Lyles is regarded by some as the benchmark to beat to try to convince the Nets to surrender Johnson in the next 19 days.โ
The Nets are likely fielding numerous trade offers for Johnson, but the Kingsโ proposal may stand out. Known as one of the leagueโs top three-point shooters, Johnson could significantly boost the Kings, who have been on a winning streak recently. His addition would enhance their offensive capabilities even further.
Other teams linked to Johnson include the Indiana Pacers and the Orlando Magic, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. The Magic, currently struggling with the leagueโs lowest three-point shooting percentage, could benefit from Johnsonโs floor-spacing ability to complement stars Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero. Adding Johnson would address a critical need for Orlando.
Meanwhile, the Pacers have also engaged in trade discussions with the Nets. Johnson would be a valuable asset for Indiana, which has recently found its rhythm and could strengthen its roster with his skills.
