Chris Banjo, the assistant special teams coach for the Denver Broncos, recently had a virtual interview with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch for their special teams coordinator position. Banjo, 34, is in his second season with the Broncos after a 10-year playing career as a safety and special teams contributor with teams like the Green Bay Packers (2013โ2016), New Orleans Saints (2016โ2018), and Arizona Cardinals (2019โ2022).
The 49ers are looking for a new special teams coordinator after firing Brian Schneider on January 6, 2025. They have also interviewed Detroit Lions assistant special teams coach Jett Modkins for the role.
